The ‘approval’ method of selling stamps by post is very well established. Probably the best and cheapest way of acquiring stock for resale is to buy private collections, either direct from the public or at auction, though it is possible to buy stamps in presentation packs from certain suppliers and, of course, if you are interested in dealing in current  stamps and the many commemoratives issued, you can buy them across the counter at face value at any post office at the time of issue. The inclusion of an order form in your advertised offer, like the reply envelope considered below, is less an inducement than its absence is a disincentive. Without it, the customer must find some paper to write on, work out how to say what he wants, and make sure he writes it down clearly and unambiguously. The question is this: should you incorporate the p&p cost within the product price or should you identify it separately? The latter is neater, uses fewer words (an important consideration in classified advertising at least) and is less likely to lead to error among customers of uncertain arithmetical skill. The former, on the other hand, has the advantage of making the product seem cheaper, because few people take p&p into account while at the stage of wondering whether a product is worth buying or not.
